Kara Alaimo, PhD is author of Over the Influence: Why Social Media is Toxic for Women and Girls – And How We Can Take It Back. She is an associate professor of communication at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. She writes about the social impact of social media and issues affecting women for CNN Opinion and other outlets. She is also a former communicator at the United Nations and in the Obama administration.
